The Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 authorizes a $7,500 tax credit to qualified first time home buyers, purchasing a home after April 9, 2008 and before July 1, 2009.
You probably qualify if you have not owned a principal residence during the 3 year period prior to the purchase and your AGI (Adjusted Gross Income) is below $95,000 or $$170,000 for a married couple.
